Each pad in the scale takes 2 AA batteries, and these batteries will need to be replaced every 6 to 8 months, regardless of how frequently the scale is used. If you use your Lilypad at least once every few weeks then the App should give you a low battery warning, but less frequent users may miss the low-battery threshold and attempt to use the scale when the batteries are too low. In this case you will not get a warning, but will rather be unable to connect to the scale. If you are consistently unable to connect to the scale and have had your scale for at least 6 months, the first thing to try is changing the batteries, described here.

Items needed to change the batteries:

  1. 8 new AA batteries (2 for each pad)
  2. One Philips head screwdriver
  3. A flathead screwdriver, pliers, or dexterous fingers (for getting the AAs out of the battery holder)

First, remove the two screws in the corners on the side of the pad with a sticker. Keep them in a safe place as you will need to screw them back in afterward. Do not remove other screws or you will void your warranty.

Next, remove the green cover on the side with the sticker. There will be a battery case inside.

Finally, remove the battery case and pry out the batteries with a flathead screwdriver, pliers, or your fingers, then replace with new AA batteries. Put the cover back on and screw it back in place, taking care not to pinch any wires.

Repeat this process for each pad, and you should be ready to go!
